El Barón Rojo

Flavor Profile
- Complex 1960s Cuban flavor profile
Description
Crafted from the exclusive private reserve of renowned tobacco baron Leo Reyes, this cigar offers a rare and distinguished smoking experience. A true gem for aficionados.

The name "El Baron Rojo"
The name "El Baron Rojo – The Red Baron" comes from Leonardo Reyes' admiration for Manfred von Richthofen. Manfred von Richthofen, commanded both fear and respect among his enemies during World War I. Allied pilots recognized him as a lethal adversary and the most formidable German ace in the sky. Despite the danger he posed, many also saw him as embodying a certain knightly honor that was reminiscent of an earlier age of warfare. When he was ultimately killed in April 1918, British forces buried him with full military honors, a gesture reflecting the level of respect he had earned even among those he fought.

Leonardo Reyes Varga
On our journey to purchase tobacco, the "Tobacco Baron" Leonardo Reyes Varga opened his private stash to test our palate and recognition of cigars and tobacco. The cigar he gave us was very unusual for today's flavor palette. Leo was pleased by our appreciation and how we were able to detect some of the tobacco strains and flavors in the cigar.
He told us that this cigar is what he would put up against the Trinidad cigars from the 1960s as a contender for the best cigar in the world. It contains original Cuban tobacco strains that are no longer available in Cuba, offering a unique glimpse into the past.
This makes the cigar a bit of a twist for us. On one hand, it fits perfectly with Tradición Moderna's mission to provide discerning ladies and gentlemen access to excellent cigars. On the other hand, we could only convince Leo to produce 1,000 pieces for us. As a result, we don't sell the cigar directly but reserve it for those who feel the same excitement reading this story as we did when we first held it in our hands.
